‘Free Billie Eilish’ is trending but you probably won’t guess why

It's a pretty weird reason.

As you doom scroll through Twitter for the fifteenth time today, you may have discovered the phrase “Free Billie Eilish” trending – and like the rest of us, you may be trying to ascertain what exactly we’re freeing the “bad guy” singer from. Well, as far as we know, the artist has no outstanding Britney Spears-esque conservatorship issues or otherwise, and is safe and sound.

The only person on earth who knows for certain what Billie Eilish requires supposed liberation from is some dude who decided to scale the KTLA tower in Hollywood, equipped with a sign that reads “Free Billie Eilish.” If that’s not odd enough, the other side of the poster reads “MK Ultra sex slaves Donald Marshall clones.” Sure thing, fella.

Needless to say, the bizarre incident has captured the attention of social media at large, and has evoked a number of pretty humorous reactions as the internet scrambles to “rescue” the 21 year-old singer:

Needless to say, we’re writing this odd turn of events off as just another day in Hollywood. Eilish herself is yet to chime in on her committed “fan’s” stunt – the “lovely” artist likely has bigger fish to fry than some random daredevil who decided to climb a building in her honor. At least the individual in question didn’t break into her home like some other person did earlier this year

Billie Eilish recently made a cameo appearance in Donald Glover’s Swarm – alongside a whole lot of other celebrities
