Internet in shambles as Jonathan Majors accusations follow a familiar course

The allegations against the actor have set social media ablaze.

The star of the latest Ant-Man, Jonathan Majors was recently arrested following allegations that he assaulted a woman in New York City, which has understandably sent social media into a frenzy of controversy as further details emerge.

As previously reported, Majors has been said to have strangled a woman who was riding with him while he was on his phone. When she tried to take a glance at what he was doing, he allegedly got upset and put his hands around her throat. Reports indicate that she was dropped off and he went on to spend the night elsewhere. Further accounts also allege that Majors slapped the woman.

Unfortunately, any time a celebrity is involved in a situation with domestic violence, the social media narrative tends to follow a traditional course, with many rushing to defend the accused while others criticize them for immediately defending someone without knowing the facts.

In the case of Majors, some Twitter users found it ironic that the very people who recently criticized Majors for not being masculine enough would be ready to defend him now.

A shift has suddenly taken place after the allegations and his subsequent arrest. After getting almost universal acclaim for his recent roles, Majors seems to have jeopardized his career while it was finally beginning to soar.

And the bashing begins…

Due to the fervent support of fans, people who accuse celebrities of wrongdoing often face intense backlash from fanbases. One Twitter user was quick to point out that Majors’ fans have previously attacked people for far less than a domestic violence accusation.

Others noted that people quickly change their tune after initially calling for outing an assailant when that person turns out to be someone they’d rather not go against.

Of course, there have been Creed jokes in wake of the news. One Twitter user even summarized the problematic route many have taken to react to the situation.

The allegations against Majors are currently being investigated and his lawyer is expecting that the charges will be dropped soon. But till that happens, the internet will continue analyzing and dissecting how the future of the MCU star looks from here.
