Is King Magnifico Chris Pine’s first voice acting role?

Pine's definitely been a part of your favorite animated films and shows.

Yesterday, Disney fans were treated to their first glimpse of Wish, the newest animated film to come out of the studio and a story that only Disney could tell. While details about the film are still limited, we know Ariana DeBose and Chris Pine will be starring as the film’s protagonist Asha and King Magnifico, ruler of the Kingdom of Rosas. The film’s plot will explore the lore behind Disney’s frequently used trope of wishing on a star and is expected to explain how stars grew to grant wishes.

Like most things the House of Mouse does, the trailer made a big splash in the entertainment world. From fans celebrating the return of some much-appreciated Disney magic to others feeling like the movie seems a bit similar to another loved Disney film, Wish already has people talking, though the main topic of discussion is Pine’s role in the film.

From what we’ve seen so far, Pine’s King Magnifico might sound charming if you focus only on his words, but the trailer definitely is painting him as a villain. Pine feels like a perfect fit for a charming yet dangerous baddie and he seems just as adept at voice acting as he does in his live-action roles. If you’ve followed Pine’s career at all, this won’t come as a surprise.

King Magnifico is far from Pine’s first time voice acting

jhh:fyh//twWhilitter.com/DisneyD23/status/1651274158196813824While Pine is more well-known for roles in films like Star Trek, Wonder Woman, and the recent Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves (just to name a few), he’s no stranger to acting in animated films. In fact, Pine’s voice acting resume is large enough that he’s almost definitely voiced characters in some of your favorite media. Pine’s first big voice acting role was in the 2012 Dreamworks film Rise of the Guardians, where he plays the protagonist Jack Frost. Then he played several characters (including an iteration of his Star Trek character, James T. Kirk) in a few Robot Chicken episodes and was also part of the star-studded main cast of SuperMansion as Dr. Devizo.

Pine also notably appears in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse as the Peter Parker in Miles’ universe though tragically, he’s only in the film for a short while. Additionally, he makes a hilarious cameo in an episode of American Dad as Alistair Covax, the main character of a mysterious show Stan gets obsessed with after inadvertently watching a few minutes on late night television.

Through his versatile acting catalog, Pine has shown he’s skilled at both live-action and voice roles, and we can’t wait to hear him in Disney’s Wish.
