Jay-Z forced to conjure an insult after Kanye West’s ‘vulgar and offensive’ remarks against daughter Blue Ivy

Jay-Z didn't let that slide.

During a recent surprise appearance at Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter tour in Paris, which took place at the Stade de France, music legend Jay-Z made a small but noticeable change to a famous lyric, calling attention to his long and complicated history with fellow artist Kanye West. The change happened while he was performing “N—-s in Paris”, a well-known song from the 2011 Watch the Throne album, a project Jay-Z and West worked on together.

The altered lyric in N—-s in Paris was a clear and intentional move that fans quickly picked up on. Originally, the line said, “Just might let you meet Ye.” But instead of saying West’s name, Jay-Z replaced it with a shoutout to his wife. The new line now says, “Just might let you meet Bey,” honoring his partner of seventeen years.

As found by Page Six, this change was a public sign of the ongoing issues between the two artists, stepping away from the song’s original wording and the history behind their collaboration. This performance also included a special appearance by his wife, Beyoncé, where they performed remixed versions of their hits Crazy in Love and Drunk in Love, mixed with Partition.

Jay-Z takes a shot at Kanye

Jay-Z’s public disapproval comes after a string of harsh comments made by Kanye West about Jay-Z and Beyoncé’s children. Just three months before the Paris concert, West went on an unprovoked rant on social media, specifically on the platform X. In these shocking posts, West openly questioned the intelligence of the couple’s younger children, Sir and Rumi, who are both eight years old.

While his comments focused on the twins, the broader attack on “Jay-Z and Beyoncé’s kids” also indirectly involved their thirteen-year-old daughter, Blue Ivy, making the conflict even more personal. After West’s initial outburst, he went back and forth between apologizing and taking back those apologies. At first, West showed some regret for his widely criticized social media posts. But that didn’t last long.

In response to West’s repeated offensive remarks, Jay-Z and BeyoncĂ© have been carefully thinking about how to handle things next. The couple may have been discussing the best way to address the situation, weighing whether to deal with it privately or take legal action. A source close to them confirmed that they decided they would “absolutely not stand” for the “vulgar and offensive” nature of West’s comments. This strong position shows how seriously they take the personal attacks against their family.
