In a sentence that justifies the term “eat the rich,” Jeff Bezos has seemingly adorned his 500 million dollar superyacht with a sculpture resembling his girlfriend. As TMZ reports, the Amazon chairman was seen embarking on the maiden voyage of his newly-purchased boat alongside Lauren Sánchez, with onlookers drawing comparisons between the media personality and the curvaceous statue attached to the boat’s prowl.
The figurehead features a topless woman with flowing hair, a long gown and angel wings. While it remains unclear whether the statue was actually modelled around Sanchez or whether the similarities are purely coincidental, the news has caught the attention of the Twittersphere. One user equated the statue to “billionaire’s version of a matching tattoo,” while another simply called Bezos “a boob man.”
Dubbed the Koru, Bezos’ boat is the tallest sailing yacht in the world, and its purchase and renovation has been years in the making. It is reportedly moored off the coast of Spanish island Mallorca, where Bezos and Sánchez were seen enjoying the sun (must be nice). At 400-feet, the Koru is one of the top 25 largest vessels in the world, and houses its own swimming pool and helipad.
Last year, the boat was almost vandalized by egg-throwers in Rotterdam, following reports that the manufacturers had requested for a bridge to be dismantled to allow its movement. On top of potentially inspiring the Krou statue, Sanchez is scheduled to board one of her boyfriend’s upcoming space flights, as part of a billionaire space race that Neil deGrasse Tyson thinks has been inaccurately described.
Bezos and Sánchez’s pairing comes a few years after his split from MacKenzie Scott, whose share of the financial divorce settlement was valued at $38.3 billion. That’s more than even Tanya McQuoid of The White Lotus, but Bezos certainly reminds us of the dubious Greg.
