Jonathan Majors’ lawyer releases statement, expects charges to be ‘dropped imminently’

The actor's legal team are confident no charges will be filed.

As quick as people can be to point the finger, more details on the recent arrest of Jonathan Majors were needed before any sort of definitive judgement can be passed, with the actor’s lawyer releasing the first full-length statement since the Marvel Cinematic Universe star was taken into custody yesterday.

The 33 year-old is facing potential charges including assault and strangulation after an alleged altercation with a woman in New York City, but his lawyer Priya Chaudhry has spoken to Deadline and confidently proclaimed her belief that any and all potential legal filings will ultimately end up being dropped.

“Jonathan Majors is completely innocent and is provably the victim of an altercation with a woman he knows. We are quickly gathering and presenting evidence to the District Attorney with the expectation that all charges will be dropped imminently.”

Backing up her statement with evidence, Chaudhry intimated that “evidence includes video footage from the vehicle where this episode took place, witness testimony from the driver and others who both saw and heard the episode, and most importantly, two written statements from the woman recanting these allegations.”

Adding that “the evidence proves that Mr. Majors is entirely innocent and did not assault her whatsoever,” before outlining that the only reason Majors was arrested in the first place was because the woman in question “was having an emotional crisis, for which she was taken to a hospital yesterday,” where the NYPD “The NYPD “is required to make an arrest in these situations.”

With his legal team confident, any doomsayers predicting the end of Majors’ career could prove to be very wide of the mark.
