Jonathan Majors’ multimillion-dollar ad campaign with U.S. Army hits a roadblock in light of assault allegations

The troubles for actor Jonathan Majors can’t seem to stop at all. Not even a day ago, Majors was arrested in New York for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend, leading to widespread media coverage. Though his lawyers and representatives have released a statement claiming his innocence, he inevitably is struggling to shake off the consequences of the reports.

In the most recent development over the allegations against him, Majors has lost a multi-million dollar ad campaign he was brought in for by the United States Army. Majors was supposed to be a narrator for the army’s new version of “Be All You Can Be” recruitment ads that have been around for a while now. Per Army Times, the military has expressed concerns over the magnitude of assault allegations against Majors and has decided to put a hold on the said advertisements until the authorities complete their investigation on the case.

Speaking on behalf of the army, Laura DeFrancisco, the spokesperson for the Army Enterprise Marketing Office overseeing the campaign and other marketing efforts for the military, released a statement saying,

“The U.S. Army is aware of the arrest of Jonathan Majors, and we are deeply concerned by the allegations surrounding his arrest. The U.S. Army is aware of the arrest of Jonathan Majors, and we are deeply concerned by the allegations surrounding his arrest.”

Per Deadline, the Final Four and championship of the 2023 NCAA Men’s College Basketball tournament were reportedly set to feature the advertisement, followed by an in-person event. Army Times claims that the purchase must have been of a commercial cost of $2.2 million; however, the actual financial impact of halting the campaign is unclear.

The campaign is an effort on behalf of the army to encourage more enlistments and achieve the yearly recruitment goals. With a celebrity like Majors, who has recently become a megastar with two very successful and famous outings, Creed III and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, these ads could have generated added enthusiasm among their target demographic.

The legal team representing Majors has maintained his complete innocence. However, the news has left the actors’ fans in shambles, drawing severe responses, including calls to recast his career-defining role of Kang the Conqueror in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
