It’s beginning to look increasingly likely that Jonathan Majors‘ days as a mainstream movie star are at an end, regardless of whether or not he ends up proving his innocence in the wake of mounting assault and abuse allegations.
Even the suggestion of wrongdoing away from the cameras is enough to create a stigma that’s difficult to shake off for the remainder of a career, especially when he’s already been dropped from a slew of high-profile film projects and advertising campaigns, all while Marvel Studios maintains radio silence on his potential future as Kang the Conqueror.
Of course, everyone is innocent until proven otherwise, and the Creed III alum’s representatives – or at least the ones he’s got left – continue to protest he hasn’t done anything untoward. In a wise decision, though, it’s been reported that Majors has decided not to accept his invitation to the upcoming Met Gala, which makes sense for reasons that shouldn’t need to be explained.
While the information does admittedly come from Page Six and should thusly be taken with a grain of salt, the prospect of Majors showing up at the annual event would have generated mountains of headlines for all the wrong reasons regardless.
The 33 year-old has generally been maintaining a low profile ever since he was first arrested, and even if his team has released a statement to the outlet offering that “we have provided irrefutable evidence to the District Attorney that the charges are false,” hitting the town at one of Hollywood’s most notable congregations of fashionistas wouldn’t have been a great look.
