Meghan Markle branded ‘fame-hungry parasite’ as an angry demand is made to separate Prince Harry from his golden creation

Hasn't he already lost enough this year?

One of Prince Harry’s few remaining passions, the Invictus Games, has come under fire from the very people it aims to support. Veterans are apparently done with the charity event underneath Harry and they have placed the blame on their decision on the shoulders of the prince and his wife Meghan Markle, who has been labelled a “fame-hungry parasite.”

A former Major in the British army and intelligence corps, Edward Fortescue, made a post to X in which he heavily criticized both Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Fortescue was responding to another post which claimed that Harry was not the original sole founder of the Invictus Games.

What did Fortescue say about Harry and Meghan?

In his post the former major wrote, “The wounded veterans of Invictus are done,” he went on to explain that Harry and Meghan had taken the attention off of the sacrifices made by the soldiers the games were designed to support. Instead, the games had turned into massive PR stunts for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, a way for them to generate some good publicity for themselves.

A lot of his frustration was directed towards Meghan whom he rather poetically described her to be “a scavenger—circling the sacred with cameras in tow, draped in designer grief and counterfeit empathy.” He went on to explain that these wounded veterans had “seen war. They’ve faced death. They’ve dragged their broken bodies through fire and blood,” and yet now they simply serve as a backdrop in Harry and Meghan’s “grotesque theatre.”

While Fortescue heavily criticizes Meghan, he does not let Harry off the hook either. He accuses the prince, who served in the army with the Blues and Royals, of abandoning “his regiment, his family, his Queen,” only to come “crawling back.”

Fortescue wants the Sussexes out of the games

The tirade ends with a call to eject both Harry and Meghan from the games “Not politely. Not discreetly. Ruthlessly.” He claims that wounded veterans deserve better and that the Sussexes have twisted the original purpose of the games to suit their own PR needs.

It’s difficult to argue with the grievances shared by Fortescue here, it does feel as though the Invictus Games focus more on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle more than the actual wounded veterans who are taking part.

Responding to his post on X many expressed their agreement with the major, one wrote, “I suspect you have spoken out loud what so many veterans, families, and those soldiers still in service feel.” Meanwhile, another added, “Invictus is just another cash cow for the grifters.”

On the other hand, it’s difficult to deny the good that Harry and Meghan have done with Invictus. They clearly do feel strongly about the games. The dedication from the Sussexes has helped to keep the games going strong for so many years. A few disagreed with Fortescue’s words with one person writing, “No one is forcing countries and their veterans to attend. They attend because they want to attend.”
