When is Olivia Rodrigo releasing her new album?

Olivia Rodrigo has ventured back to music with a new single 'Vampire,' which marks the first song in her upcoming sophomore album titled "Guts."

The 27-day countdown on Olivia Rodrigo‘s website has finally ended, and fans have received the most bomb surprise from the three-time Grammy-winning singer. The 20-year-old star released her latest single “Vampire” earlier today, which immediately stormed the internet after accumulating 300,000 views in the first minute of its release on YouTube. The song dropped on June 30 and marked Rodrigo’s return to music after her hit 2021 album Sour.

Rodrigo took to Instagram earlier this week to announce a new album, which is led by the single “Vampire.” The first song has already set the bar too high for the approaching surprise, but thankfully, fans don’t have to wait too long for the album release. The singer-songwriter and actress posted on Instagram on June 26 and revealed the cover art, title, and release date of the album. The post read,

“my sophomore album GUTS comes out september 8th. i am so proud of this record and I can’t wait to share it with you all! u can presave it now! xoxoxoxo❤️💜💌🖤”

Her forthcoming sophomore album is titled Guts, and it is scheduled to drop in two months on Sept. 8, 2023. After the announcement, Rodrigo gave some insights about the album and her motivations behind it. She stated,

“For me, this album is about growing pains and trying to figure out who I am at this point in my life. I feel like I grew 10 years between the ages of 18 and 20—it was such an intense period of awkwardness and change. I think that’s all just a natural part of growth, and hopefully, the album reflects that.”

In another interview with Billboard, Rodrigo spoke about how “Vampire” ties in with the rest of the upcoming album,

“I actually feel like the album is really, incredibly diverse. There are other kinds of ballads — I guess I consider “Vampire” a ballad on the record — but yeah, I don’t know! It’s all pretty different.”

Rodrigo first came to prominence with her starring role as Nini Salazar-Roberts on the Disney Plus series High School Musical: The Musical: The Series in 2019. After two years, she released her debut single, “Drivers License,” which broke several records on Spotify and debuted at number one on Billboard Hot 100. This was soon followed by her debut single album Sour, which became the longest-reigning number-one album by a female artist in 2021.

After two years, one month, and nine days, to be precise, “Vampire” has again put Rodrigo in the spotlight for her unmatched musical talent. Fans can pre-save Guts starting June 30 on Spotify and Apple Music here, and catch the official music video of “Vampire” on YouTube.
