A popular influencer couple who shared their off-road adventures with thousands of followers have died in a tragic crash in the Canadian wilderness. Stacey Tourout and Matthew Yeomans built a large following through their Toyota World Runners YouTube channel and social media accounts before their lives were cut short last week.
According to The New York Post, the couple died from injuries they suffered in an off-road accident on August 7, 2025, in the mountains of British Columbia. Their families released a statement confirming the heartbreaking news to their global community of fans who had followed their travel adventures across North and South America.
Mark Jennings-Bates, a manager with Kaslo Search and Rescue, spoke about the rescue efforts after the emergency call came in around 7:30 p.m. The rescue teams had precise location information, which helped them reach the remote crash site more quickly than usual in such difficult terrain.
Search and rescue teams rushed to help the influencers
The rescue operation involved both ground crews and helicopter support to reach the couple in the mountainous region they loved exploring. Jennings-Bates explained that having an exact location meant the helicopter pilot could fly directly to the scene with confidence.
When rescue crews finally reached the crash site after the long journey through rough terrain, they found that one of the victims had already died. The other person was still alive and was quickly transported to a hospital by helicopter, but sadly died later from their injuries.
Authorities are still investigating what caused the fatal accident, but early reports suggest the couple may have lost control of their vehicle on the challenging terrain. It remains unclear whether they were filming content for their social media channels at the time of the crash, as many influencers have died while creating dangerous content, as they often documented their off-road adventures for their audience.
The couple had become well-known in the overlanding community for their detailed blog posts and videos showing their extensive vehicle and RV modifications. They shared their journeys through remote locations across North and South America, inspiring many followers to pursue their own adventure travel dreams, though their tragic end echoes other influencer deaths that shocked their communities.
Their families described them as inseparable partners who shared a deep love for the beautiful British Columbia mountains, where they tragically lost their lives. The statement from their relatives noted that “they are together forever as we knew they would always be,” reflecting the close bond the couple shared both in life and in their final moments.
