A royal rule will force Prince William and his son to fly on separate planes whenever travelling now that Prince George has turned 12. The rule is in place for a good reason although William reportedly disagrees with it.
Some things the royal family does are nonsensical, but other things have a very specific purpose, in this case protecting the heir to the throne is incredibly important to the firm, as such, there are rules and restrictions in place that protect the royal lineage, even if that means separating father and son. In this case, one particularly “morbid” rule will see William have to fly in a separate plane to his son in order to protect the royal bloodline.
The rule protects the future monarch
The reason for such a rule should be pretty obvious, on the off chance that there is some sort of accident in the air, this rule ensures that there is still an heir to the throne. Sure, it’s pretty dark to imagine such a disaster taking place but these are things that have to be considered. Speaking to Fox News Digital, royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams noted “Accidents do happen.”
Fitzwilliams went on to share his opinions on the rules, supporting the idea that they should be followed, “this seems like a sensible precaution which ought to be observed, as it was with King Charles and William during Queen Elizabeth’s reign.” William and his family are often jetting off around the world together, be it for royal events or simply a family holiday, but now they’ll have to work around this rule separating the two heirs.
Prince William doesn’t agree with the rule
According to Fitzwilliams, the Prince of Wales isn’t very happy about having to leave his son, even if it is just for the plane ride. The idea that the rule is in place in case one of them dies is a thought no parent probably wants to think about. Reports indicate that William, who is a pilot, disagrees with his father over this.
Regardless, Fitzwilliams points out that the royal family is in quite a sorry state these days, something which many have already noticed, “Harry is fifth in line to the throne… and only four working royals are under 70.” The truth is there is a need now more than ever to protect all members of the royal family as the numbers are dwindling at an alarming rate. From the perspective of the firm, there simply can’t be any risks when it comes to the two who are direct heirs to the throne.
William knows this better than anyone as he went through the same thing when he turned 12. Us Weekly reported that King Charles’ former pilot, Graham Laurie, confirmed William had to fly in a separate aircraft after his 12th birthday. British broadcaster and photographer Helena Chard also claimed that King Charles had expressed his expectation for George to fly separately, adding William will just have to “adjust to the change.”
