‘She is likely to play it ruthlessly’: With royal reconciliation on the horizon Meghan plans to use her ‘trump card’ to make a U.K. comeback

Meghan has a plan to benefit from Harry's royal reconciliation.

Meghan Markle may have been cut out of the peace talks between her husband Harry and his father King Charles, but the Duchess of Sussex may already be planning her royal return to the U.K. as she has one significant “trump card” she’s holding on to.

It all relates to the Invictus Games which are quite a way off yet, but nonetheless will play a key part in Meghan’s apparent plan to win some favorable publicity in the U.K. for once. The upcoming event is set to take place in Birmingham in 2027 which will be the first time the games have been held in the country since the first ever event in London.

Harry will of course be returning to his home country no matter what when the games begin, however, Meghan is possibly also planning to make her grand return after keeping away from the U.K. since 2022.

What is Meghan’s plan?

Sky News reports that Meghan has her sights set on a royal comeback to coincide with the Invictus Games. According to insider Richard Fitzwilliams the duchess’ moves and actions are calculated in a way that will get her the best publicity.

“(Meghan) will, of course, be expected to attend in Birmingham, not to do so would be a public humiliation… However, the Invictus Games is Meghan’s trump card and she is likely to play it ruthlessly.”

Fitzwilliams claims that part of Meghan’s plan “involves approving moves towards ‘reconciliation’.” He goes on to explain that “Meghan will calculate that this could lead to useful PR in Birmingham which she rather obviously needs.”

It seems as though Fitzwilliams is painting Meghan as a cold and calculated robot whose only concern is generating good PR. Although he’s not entirely wrong, if all goes well with Harry’s reconciliation and if Meghan does make an appearance at the games, it could score her some brownie points with the U.K. public as well as the royal family who may also be in attendance.

But that’s a lot of ifs

Of course, that’s assuming the royals haven’t cut her out of the picture entirely by that point. Meghan Markle is in a precarious position at present as she is allegedly terrified that Charles could bribe Prince Harry with promises of a royal return if he divorces her. It’s hardly a secret anymore that many in the Palace are not particularly fond of Meghan. If Harry is forced to choose between his wife or a return to his old life, which will he choose?

Who knows, perhaps this whole reconciliation thing will ultimately fall through and leave Meghan and Harry stranded without a paddle. 2027 is a long way off and anything could happen before the Invictus Games.
