‘So be it’: J.K. Rowling endorses transphobic bigotry and forms a mutual appreciation society all at once

We get it, Jo, we get it.

Like a Dementor come to life, J.K. Rowling seems to become increasingly emboldened and appreciative of the constant hatred being thrown in her direction, with the Harry Potter creator relishing the controversy that follows her around on a regular basis.

That comes with the territory when her personal views on the transgender community could very generously be described as somewhere between inflammatory and incendiary, but as she keeps making clear to her haters on social media, she does not care even the slightest what people think about her on a personal level.

Being eye-wateringly rich would certainly soften the blow of being so widely unpopular, but not too long after frustratingly making a very good point about people copying and pasting untrue stories to attack her on Twitter, the controversial scribe has only gone and forged a mutual appreciation society with Ben Appel, author of a new book criticizing gender-affirming care for minors.

It’s the endless cycle of Rowling’s life these days, and it makes us long for a simpler time when she was best known for masterminding one of the most iconic, popular, and lucrative fantasy franchises the world has ever seen. These days, it’s her thoughts on gender and sexuality that take up most of the airspace, and the hole she keeps digging for herself continues to get increasingly deep.

As mentioned, she remains utterly unmoved and completely unbothered, so don’t expect her to quieten down anytime soon.
