Taylor Swift has been dropping plenty of surprises lately — one which even left loyal Swifties furious — and in the latest edition of “What new thing did Taylor do today?” the “Blank Space” singer embraced the MCU arc that made it really difficult to trust Spider-Man.
Those who still like to hold on to the belief that Taylor Swift hates her exes were surprised when the singer brought her ex-boyfriend Taylor Lautner to her Eras Tour performance at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City. Leaving the crowd wild after Swift introduced him, the very excited Twilight star was seen doing back flips and cartwheels on stage as the hooting crowd and Swift’s other two guests for the night — Joey King and Presley Cash — looked on.
Lautner, who is rumored to have inspired the Swift gem “Back to December” as the duo dated way back in 2009 for three months, stars in the new music video — and did “every single stunt” seen in it — for “I Can See You” along with King and Presley. In the song, the three are trying to bust Swift out of a literal vault while kicking some serious ass.
On stage, Swift fondly addressed her close friendship with Lautner and his formerly-Team-Edward wife, Taylor Dome (now Lautner, which is not confusing at all).
“He and his wife have become some of my closest friends, and it’s very convenient because we all share the same first name.”
And the “Bad Blood” singer and her new (but very familiar co-star) soon proceeded to live out the hilarious triplication in true Marvel style — and no points for guessing the meme the trio chose to imitate.
The iconic Spider-Man meme is originally from a 1967 episode, titled “Double Identity,” of the animated series, Spider-Man. The meme saw a resurgence in its popularity after Spider-Man: No Way Home introduced three versions of the web-slinger — Tom Holland, Andrew Garfield, and Tobey Maguire — and actually gave the Marvel fandom trust issues as all three stars lied through their teeth and denied the possibility. This meme now even has a live-action version where the three stars hilariously re-created the meme.
In the comments of the picture, shared by Lautner, everyone once again stressed the reigning sentiment — that the actor is Taylor Swift’s best ex-boyfriend. Well, he definitely is not upset that he inspired a Swift song or that he might have to face Swifties soon after Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) debuts on July 9 as it includes the song “Back to December.”
