‘Ted Lasso’ cast join the writers’ strike picket line after canceled finale event

The cast of 'Ted Lasso' grab their placards and join the writer's strike hours ahead of their season finale airing.

The writers strike which has seen writers across film and television walk out of jobs and take to the picket lines, seems to show no signs of abating as it enters its second month. Now, ahead of its season finale, the cast and crew of Ted Lasso have come out to support the strike.

The ongoing writer’s strike is now in its fifth week and WAG and AMPT cannot seem to come to a resolution over the fair payment of writers as well as their residuals from shows, amongst other issues facing writers currently. Many famous figures have come out to support the strike with actors and directors joining the picket line themselves or showing their support on social media, and even at recent award shows.

Ted Lasso co-creator and lead actor Jason Sudeikis has regularly been joining the troops outside of Ted Lasso’s studio Warner Bros. Discovery, and he has now been joined by a handful of the show’s cast and crew just hours before the final episode drops. Many were originally there to attend a finale event, but after it was canceled due to the strikes, so they instead joined Sudeikis in support of the writers.

Brendan Hunt, Hannah Waddingham, and Nick Mohammed were among those to join the fray, holding their placards high. Waddingham shared the same image over on Twitter, writing, “On our final day as Richmond Greyhounds….there’s nowhere else we could be. Thank you so much to our magnificent writers’ room. We’d be NOTHING without you.”

The season finale, and the end of Ted Lasso, will air tonight on Apple TV Plus. Grab your tissues and hankies, because we have a feeling you’re going to need them.
