‘The raptor you never thought was there’: Colin Jost breaks silence on Scarlett Johansson kissing costar

He finally talks about it.

After the much-awaited release of Jurassic World Rebirth, Scarlett Johanssons red carpet moments with her co-star Jonathan Bailey have drawn a lot of attention from both the public and the media, especially because of the friendly and affectionate interactions they shared during the movie’s press tour.

The warm exchanges between Johansson and Bailey first made news at the London premiere of Jurassic World Rebirth on June 17, 2025, when the two were seen sharing a quick kiss. This moment quickly became a big topic on social media and in entertainment news, with many people talking about how much chemistry they seemed to have. These moments have also led to comments from Johansson’s husband, Colin Jost.

Jost, who is known for his work on Saturday Night Live, also spoke about the viral red carpet kisses involving his wife, as found by Page Six. In a recent interview, he joked about the situation, comparing it to Jurassic Park by saying, “the attack always comes from the raptor you never thought was there. Of all the threats out there, I wasn’t thinking it was Jonathan.”

Colin Jost isn’t worried about his wife’s kisses

Jost pointed out that Bailey is openly gay, making it clear that there was no real romantic concern. Jost also said that “people really blow it out of proportion when someone kisses their friend hello.” His comments show that he’s secure in his marriage and understands that his wife’s job sometimes involves public displays of affection with co-stars as part of promoting a movie. Together, they have a three-year-old son named Cosmo.

The attention grew even more when they did the same thing at the movie’s New York City premiere on June 23, 2025. This second public kiss, which reportedly happened with Colin Jost nearby, made fans and the media even more curious, leading to a lot of discussion about whether their connection was just professional or something more.

Both Scarlett Johansson and Jonathan Bailey have talked about why people are so interested in their red carpet moments, explaining that they’re just good friends and colleagues. Bailey said in an interview that he thinks “people should be able to show love in all different ways” and added that “if you can’t kiss your friends, life’s too short not to.” This was his way of saying that their kiss was just a normal, friendly gesture between close co-stars.

Johansson also joked about the attention, calling Bailey a “lovable guy” and saying that “nothing surprises me these days” when asked about the public’s reaction. She also mentioned that she has “a lot of love to give.” Their comments made it clear that they have a comfortable, playful friendship that grew while making and promoting Jurassic World Rebirth. Throughout the press tour, reporters noticed how much they laughed and joked together during interviews, which only strengthened the idea that their bond is purely platonic.
