The 37-year-old mother of three revealed that her troubled behavior actually started in elementary school. According to Cavallari, her problems with authority began when she was just in fourth grade, after a teacher discovered inappropriate language written in her personal diary.

Cavallari described how her 8th grade school year became the “turning point” for her rebellious ways, including “faking sickness and calling out, piercing her bellybutton with safety pins, taking trains without an adult, and quaffing airplane bottles of booze at school.” These admissions paint a picture of a teenager who was clearly struggling during her middle school years.

Shoplifting led to community service before MTV fame

The reality star’s troubles extended beyond school misconduct. Cavallari admitted to having multiple run-ins with law enforcement during her teenage years, dating back to middle school and continuing through her time at Laguna Beach High School in Southern California.

One of her most serious infractions involved shoplifting, which eventually caught up with her. The former MTV star revealed that her shoplifting habit came to an abrupt end after she was caught and sentenced to 100 hours of community service. This incident occurred during the summer before she landed her breakthrough role on MTV’s Laguna Beach, which would launch her into the spotlight.

Cavallari also shared details about police encounters during her relationship with former boyfriend Stephen Colletti. She recalled one incident where police officers escorted her back to her father’s house after she and Colletti were pulled over during an argument. At the time, Cavallari was still under 18 years old. The reality TV star’s candid admissions offer a different perspective on her life before fame, showing that her rebellious persona on Laguna Beach may have been more authentic than viewers realized. Despite her troubled teenage years, Cavallari has since built a successful career as an entrepreneur and podcast host, with an estimated net worth of $30 million.
