‘Who wants to be rejected?’: ‘The Mandalorian’ stars aren’t taking Dave Filoni’s ‘Star Wars’ movie for granted

Stars from the hit 'Star Wars' series 'The Mandalorian' share how they feel about the upcoming Dave Filoni film and whether they'll be in it.

With the news that The Mandalorian director, writer, and producer David Filoni will be directing one of the upcoming Star Wars movies set during the same period of time as The Mandalorian, many are wondering which characters from the popular series will make their way across to the big screen. At this point, not even the actors themselves know for sure, and they aren’t racing to find out.

The actors who play Bo-Katan and Greef Karga, Katee Sackhoff and Carl Weathers respectively, chatted about whether or not they know if they will make an appearance in the upcoming film. Neither of them is sure at this point, and aren’t up for making the assumption that just because they have been an integral part of the third season assures them a place in the film.

Speaking to The Wrap, the actors responded to whether or not they had already reached out to the director to gleam into their futures, and it would seem they are both a little apprehensive. Weathers replied, saying:

“I would not bother him with that at all. And it’s simple. Who wants to be rejected? I don’t want to ask for rejection. Better to not be in it and just roll with that than to, “May I have some more please, sir?””

It would seem that Sackhoff is of the same mind, as she also answered, “I tend to agree with Carl. If my phone rings, great, if not, they know how much we all want to be a part of it.” Filoni must be aware of how much all his actors from across the many Disney/Star Wars shows he has worked on want to be a part of this film, and he will likely get to them all in due time… begging isn’t likely to get them anywhere.

This particular film is said to wrap up all the events that have been happening across the New Republic Era, including The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, as well as the upcoming Ashoka series. Seeing as Filoni has had a strong hand in all of these it makes sense he would steer the ship into dock, bringing about an end to this particular set of stories in the Star Wars universe.

Fans can only hope for a decent outcome for all of these characters that they have been following for the last few years, so let’s pray that Filoni can give it to us and create a film worthy of following the phenomenal series he has helped create.
