8 Great Comic Book Characters That Haven’t Made Live-Action Appearances

If you're a comic book fan and you aren't happy to be alive right now, you're doing this life thing completely wrong. Why shouldn't you be screaming from the rafters about the latest live-action comic book movies starring a host of your favorite characters? It's like constant euphoria all the time.

Terry McGinnis (Batman Beyond)

We’ve seen nearly every version of Batman over the decades, but we’re yet to see Terry McGinnis don the futuristic Bat-suit in a live-action outing. This doesn’t make sense when you consider how insanely popular the Batman Beyond franchise was, and still is to this day. One would think this would naturally be at the top of any production list.

Maybe the DCEU is planning a sci-fi Bat flick, and we just don’t know about it. With Barry Allen running around, it’s always possible that he’ll screw up some timeline or another, and we could end up in the future at some point. If that’s the case, sign me up right now and let me pre-order five tickets.

Logan paved the way for passing-the-torch narratives, where fan-favorite darlings hand the mantle over to their apprentices or successors, so it’s only natural we’ll see the Dark Knight do the same at some point in cinematic history. It would be a brave move for Warner Bros. to do since Bruce Wayne is the undisputed cash cow, but a smart one, nonetheless.

Namor The Sub-Mariner

Ah, Marvel’s aqua lad. This one is slightly more complicated since the rights to Namor are tied up and no one really knows where they lie – and, as we all know, corporate moves at the speed of a tortoise with no feet, so don’t expect quick resolution.

It’s a shame, really, because this character could’ve been a perfect addition to the Fantastic Four world. His unwavering love for Sue Storm makes him an instant foe for Reed Richards, and sets up all sorts of love-triangle possibilities. Well, it certainly couldn’t be any worse than the awkward one between Doctor Doom, Reed, and Sue in Tim Story’s Fantastic Four.

Additionally, the Sub-Mariner could be the merman to make the Speedo popular again. He flaunted it like a champ, and maybe he’s the role model that all young swimmers, with a desire to wear the tiniest of swimwear, should have.
