Anyone who has been collecting comics for some time is well aware of the reality that shifts in creative teams happen often. Sometimes they can be a real benefit to the title though, which Marvel seems to be banking on now that a new artist has been assigned to the debut issue of Elektra.

Let’s cut right to it: Alec Morgan is out and Juan Cabal is in. The reasoning? Morgan has been retasked with contributing to a backup story to be contained in Bullseye #1, which we previewed yesterday. Marvel’s Sales and Communications Administrator Chris D’Lando offered further explanation to Newsarama:

“We’re big fans of Alec’s style, and we ultimately felt he was better suited for a different project. For those looking for him, you can see some of his amazing artwork in February’s Bullseye #1 alongside legendary writer Marv Wolfman. And we’re very excited to bring Juan Cabal on to the Elektra series alongside Matt Owens.”

It should also be known that Cabal had already been solicited to draw the second issue that’s slated to drop in March. Although it may not seem like too big of a deal, when this arc is ultimately collected into a trade paperback it will translate to a more fluid visual experience.

Elektra #1 arrives in comic shops on Wednesday, February 22, and a synopsis can be found below if you’re looking for more info.
