Marvel’s upcoming Darth Maul limited series has certainly given us reason to talk lately. Not only does it place the focus squarely on a villain that some believe to be the most badass in the Star Wars franchise, but it’s brought to us by a killer creative team to boot in the form of writer Cullen Bunn and illustrator Luke Ross.
In advance of its much anticipated release, Marvel has now provided a gallery of preview images. Much of it happens to be various covers contributed by the likes of Rod Reis, Rafael Albuquerque, and Terry Dodson, but do be sure to keep your eyes peeled for a few interiors courtesy of Luke Ross himself.
Returning to the subject of Maul, Bunn recently recalled his fondest onscreen memory of the character when speaking with Marvel.com:
“Yes, for me the showdown between Maul and the Jedi was the best scene in The Phantom Menace. It was exciting to see because Maul was so different than Vader, the only other Sith I had seen in action at that point. He was fast. He jumped. He used martial arts. He uses the Force to hurl objects with deadly accuracy. And that lightsaber! There’s a moment in that fight when Qui-Gon Jinn and Maul are moving down a corridor and these force fields are separating them.”
Darth Maul #1 arrives in comic shops on Wednesday, February 1. For more information regarding it, check out the official synopsis below:
