As a nearly lifelong fan of the X-Men, I’m happy to see the mutants regaining prominence among Marvel’s vast publishing line. With ResurrXion soon kicking off, one title that many will have their eyes affixed to is undoubtedly that of Weapon X.

Whether he’s headlining blockbuster movies or enjoying a slice of pie, it really seems like Old Man Logan can do no wrong these days. Well, apparently there are some who don’t share that sentiment and will be hunting down him and a handful of other mutants, effectively making for the strangest of bedfellows when the aged Wolverine finds himself backed into a corner along with the likes of Sabretooth, Lady Deathstrike, Warpath and Domino. Needless to say, there’s no love lost among at least a few of those listed.

Reuniting the X-Men: Phoenix Endsong creative team of writer Greg Pak and artist Greg Land, this new title will see a Weapon X program that’s “under the leadership of its mysterious new director, with more funding and more Adamantium at its disposal than ever before, the Weapon X program has a new mission – exterminate all mutants!”

Although we don’t know too much of what the opening arc entails, it does sound like they’re firmly planting seeds for this summer’s Weapons of Mutant Destruction crossover involving a Hulk/Wolverine hybrid.

Weapon X #1 is scheduled to arrive in comic shops on Wednesday, April 12. But before then, you can catch a special preview on March 29 that’s set to be included within the ResurrXion Spotlight Sampler.
