‘I went into panic mode’: Woman turns to FBI as Delta Air Lines lets go ‘disturbing’ passenger who made the flight unsafe for her toddler

For Delta Air Lines, his half-hearted apology was enough.

A Delta Air Lines flight from Atlanta to Tokyo just had one of the most insane onboard controversies of passenger misbehavior we’ve ever heard. A high Delta status flyer simply could not keep his pants on.

The flight started off routinely. But when one passenger — who was onboard with her husband and young toddler daughter — went to the bathroom to change her baby’s diaper, she noticed something “disturbing”: The passenger behind them had his pants fully off. “I went into panic mode,” the passenger later shared with People. She tried to shield her daughter from seeing the undressed man and alerted the flight attendants.

The man didn’t immediately listen to the probing flight attendants who were trying to ensure he put his pants back on. The story claims he had requested a lot of alcohol during the flight, but honestly, even that is no excuse. It wasn’t until the head flight attendant informed him that if he didn’t get dressed, they’d be forced to emergency-land the plane to get him off. As long as they didn’t land in Newark, I agree that was the right call. From that point on, the flight went on relatively uninterrupted, even though the passenger, who reported the lewd behavior, was at first frightened that the inebriated man would be retaliatory.

What did shock the passenger, however, was that the man simply offered a half-hearted apology to the attendants, and all was forgiven. The concerned passenger said, “I thought for sure he’d be arrested when we landed, but that didn’t happen.” Turns out, you can just do about anything on a Delta flight if you have “high Delta status.”

People decided to follow up on the situation with Delta, and their tone changed. In an official statement, Delta Air Lines said, “Delta has zero tolerance for unruly behavior, and we continue to be in touch with our customer about her valid concerns.” They have apparently added the passenger who performed the lewd behavior to an internal no-fly list as they investigate the matter.

This has been a very difficult period for the aviation industry, and it’s no surprise that they followed up with the passenger for a wellness check. It’s good to keep the good graces of your customers, even though this was clearly a situation beyond their control. Honestly, people just need to remember how to behave.

This is probably the worst non physically harmful thing to happen on a flight in recent memory. Even worse than that infamous U-turn from United a couple of months back. The affected passenger demanded that this man be added to the sex offender list because he carried out his unfortunate stunt in the presence of two minors. It’s hard to debate that. But the woman soon learned that anything happening onboard an international flight falls under FBI jurisdiction.

“But to pursue criminal charges, we were told to go through the FBI, which is something we plan to do.”

The woman promised to follow through with a formal complaint with the FBI because she wants the man to be held responsible for his obscenity. And that’s exactly what you get when you start acting like you’re not conscious of your neighbors and keep your disgusting nature in your pants.
