‘Now you have to live with me’: Man wakes up as a ‘woman’ after friend ‘deceived’ into sex change surgery

Imagine sleeping as a man and waking up as a woman!

A 20-year-old man from Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh says he was tricked into having a sex change surgery without knowing about it. Mujahid, who lives in Sanjak village, claims that another man named Omprakash planned the surgery with doctors at Begrajpur Medical College in Mansoorpur on June 3, 2024.

According to NDTV, Mujahid says Omprakash had been bothering and threatening him for two years. He was told he had a health problem and needed to go to the hospital for a checkup. When he went to the hospital with Omprakash, he was given anesthesia without knowing what was happening, and the surgery was done while he was knocked out.

When Mujahid woke up, he found out his genitals had been removed. He says Omprakash told him he had been changed from a man to a woman and then threatened him by saying, “Now you have to live with me. I have prepared a lawyer and prepared a court marriage for you. Now I will shoot your father and the land of your share will be named after me and then I will sell it and go to Lucknow.” Omprakash told him that no one from his family or neighborhood would accept him anymore.

But the hospital says something completely different. Chief Medical Superintendent Kirti Goswami said that Mujahid had been coming to the hospital for two months to meet with Dr. Raza Farooqi, a plastic surgeon. The hospital says Mujahid wanted the sex change surgery himself and was checked by two psychiatrists before the surgery, as the law requires. This follows proper steps that were missing in other controversial medical cases where doctors performed unethical surgeries.

The hospital put out a video that shows Mujahid saying yes to the surgery. In the video, he says he is doing the operation because he wants to and that no one should be blamed if something goes wrong during the procedure.

Mujahid’s father made a police complaint on June 16, which led to Omprakash being arrested. The police charged him with causing serious harm, cheating, and unnatural crimes. The Bharatiya Kisan Union held protests outside the medical college. Farmer leader Shyam Pal said the hospital was involved in selling body organs illegally. He asked for $24,000 to be paid to Mujahid and wanted strict action against everyone involved.

Top police officer Ramashish Yadav promised that all claims would be looked into carefully and that legal action would be taken against anyone found guilty. The police are looking into both Omprakash and the hospital workers involved in the case, with investigations continuing into claims of medical wrongdoing.
