Artemis II crew confronted by lunatic calling them actors who didn’t go to space, they smile politely at him

Hire Buzz Aldrin as security please.

Buzz Aldrin had the right idea on how to deal with crazy people accusing him of lying about going to the moon. Sure, you can soberly and carefully lay out the mountains of evidence proving that they’re completely wrong, but it’s far more efficient to give them a solid bonk on the hooter and send them sprawling onto the sidewalk.

But, sadly, modern PR concerns mean today’s astronauts can’t deal quite the same firm response. This was shown in a video uploaded by “PatriotTakes” on X on May 20, showing the Artemis II crew, Commander Reid Wiseman, Pilot Victor Glover, Mission Specialist Christina Koch, and Mission Specialist Jeremy Hansen being accosted by some crazy person in a hallway on Capitol Hill.

As the unseen man approaches them, they give him a friendly smile, but he responds:

“Stop lying. Stop acting. You all never went to space! Follow Jesus, God’s watching you all. Stop lying to the public. Your psyop isn’t working! On millions of us! NASA is a joke! Repent before God y’all. I see through your lies. I know you never went to space. God’s watching you all.”

The Artemis II crew’s response is pretty much what anyone would do when confronted by an aggressive delusional person rambling about psyops and God, you just keep that friendly grin on your face and slowly back away without engaging.

Morons, morons everywhere

There’s a dark irony underpinning this interaction that I doubt the person filming this could ever possibly understand. They are berating a group of highly educated scientists who have just returned from a complex mission for which there’s an incalculable amount of evidence that it took place.

Simultaneously, they are also asking them to “repent before God”, whose existence is entirely a matter of faith over evidence. But, let’s face it, explaining this to him would be as useful as explaining it to a brick wall.

Beyond all this, it’s somewhat concerning that crazy livestreamers can just wander into the US Capitol and begin haranguing people. If this guy really is as mad with these astronauts as he appears, we’re probably lucky he didn’t bring a gun and start blasting.
