DoorDash has permanently removed one of its drivers after a Houston father claimed that the food delivery man showed up at the house completely naked. Kiante Matlock shared doorcam footage that showed the man standing outside his home without a shred of clothing.
Matlock said the incident occurred outside his home on the northeast side of Houston, reports Fox 26. The father claimed he was inside playing video games with his daughter when she noticed the notification for the DoorDash order come through on his phone. However, when he looked through his Ring door cam, he was shocked at what he saw.
The father claimed to see the Dasher who had dropped his food off through the camera, and he was completely naked. Footage obtained by Fox 26 shows the shocking and bizarre scenario as the man is seen standing on the porch before taking a photo of the completed order and walking off into the evening with everything on full display.
Matlock said he had used DoorDash many times before but opted not to keep the food from this particular order on account of the Dasher’s behavior. He later received a refund for the food.
DoorDash responds quickly
DoorDash was quick to act, banning the Dasher from the platform for violating the community guidelines. The company also categorically condemned the man’s behavior.
“What this consumer experienced was abhorrent, and we’ve reached out directly to offer our support,” a statement from the company’s spokesperson reads. “This man’s behavior was vulgar and completely unacceptable, and as soon as we were made aware, our team permanently removed their access to our platform.”
While incidents like this don’t happen often, DoorDash has been caught in the middle of similar controversies in the past. Last year, a woman working for DoorDash claimed that she was sexually harassed after she allegedly saw a customer naked through the open front door.
The DoorDash spokesperson also condemned any kind of sexual harassment and stated it was ready to assist Houston law enforcement with its investigation. Both DoorDash and the Houston police advised customers to report any concerning behavior and preserve any evidence such as door cam footage and other surveillance video. They also advised customers to contact law enforcement if they feel unsafe.
Any inappropriate encounters can be reported via the app, and DoorDash also provides additional safety resources through an online safety center. Depending on the situation, police could investigate and press charges against individuals like the Dasher from Matlock’s video so it’s vital to preserve any evidence.
