The Creative Assembly has launched the fifth post-launch expansion pack for its acclaimed survival horror title, Alien: Isolation.

Entitled The Trigger, the add-on is due to release today across select platforms and will place players in the shoes of Sevastopol’s Deputy Marshall, Ricardo. Those who have played through the main campaign will recognise the character; however, the arc of this DLC will take place before the events of Isolation‘s story. On this occasion, you will be tasked with securing different parts of the ship before attempting to blast the Xenomorph into space.

Alongside this story-driven content is some new challenges for Alien: Isolation‘s Survivor Mode. Much like previous content packs, The Trigger will bring about three brand new maps for the challenging feature, and The Creative Assembly states that these locales will be the most trying to date.

Here’s a breakdown of when and where the latest slice of DLC will begin rolling out:

  • Steam: Available from 9am GMT, Tuesday, 3rd March
  • Xbox One, Xbox 360: Tuesday, 3rd March
  • PS3 and PS4 in North America: Tuesday, 3rd March
  • PS3 and PS4 in Europe: Available from Wednesday, 4th March

Despite its incredibly creative design, unique premise and genuinely tense moments, Alien: Isolation is far too lengthy, repetitive, and frustrating to be the game-changing survival horror title it strives to be.
