Battlefield 1’s Winter Update Arrives Next Week On Xbox One, PlayStation 4 And PC

DICE's Winter Update for Battlefield 1 will be here next week, and although the patch carries a questionable name (we're in spitting distance of spring, after all), I'm no less happy to hear that the World War I shooter will be receiving some new features and/or content in the near future, whatever it turns out to be. You see, DICE has yet to actually confirm what's inside the update, but considering it has its own name, you can probably expect at least something worthwhile to come out of it.

It’s quite likely that the Winter Update will introduce some of the features that have been rolled out to the game’s Community Test Environment (public test servers) since they went live which, among other things, includes the return of the popular Ribbon system used in past Battlefield titles and an increase of the maximum class rank, according to GameSpot. Be sure not to confuse this with the upcoming expansion They Shall Not Pass, however, which isn’t scheduled to launch until next month.

The full-fledged add-on will be free to holders of Battlefield 1‘s $50 season pass as well as grant two week’s early access to play as the French army on four new maps: Verdun Heights, Fort Vaux, Soissons, and Rupture. They Shall Not Pass will be Battlefield 1‘s first slice of paid-for DLC, with the Giant’s Shadow map and Bleed Out game mode having been available for free.

Check back with us next week to see what emerges from the Winter Update.
