Gamers who’ve kept their Borderlands save files will be in for a treat when Borderlands 2 launches this fall. That’s because Gearbox Software plans to offer those folks exclusive character heads and skins for use within the much-anticipated sequel as part of its Vault Veteran Rewards program.

The offered skins are interesting to say the least, and will only appeal to certain users. They’re not in my personal taste, but it’s tough to complain about free gifts.

Borderlands 2 will be released in North America on September 18, and carries a European release date of September 21. Although it’s only been confirmed for release on Xbox 360, PS3 and Windows PC, rumours have circled regarding Gearbox Software‘s interest in developing a version of the game for Sony‘s PS Vita handheld.
