Sending the trusty quarter of Richtofen, Nikolai, Takeo, and Dempsey on a bitter-cold mission called Der Eisendrache, the first major addition to Black Ops III‘s ever-popular Zombies Mode comes packing “new gameplay, a variety of plot twists and a surprise at every turn.”

Due to drop on February 2 for PlayStation 4 users, Awakening will also come bundled with four all-new multiplayer maps in the form of Skyjacked, Rise, Splash, and Gauntlet. We expect to learn much about the additions to multiplayer closer to release, but for now, here’s the synopsis detailing the addition to Zombies.

Call of Duty®: Black Ops III’s epic Zombies DLC season begins here. In “Der Eisendrache”, Origins characters Richtofen, Nikolai, Takeo, and Dempsey embark on a suicide mission to an enemy research facility built upon an archaic site of unspeakable horror. Massive deposits of Element 115 have recently been discovered, delivering inspired new gameplay and — in Zombies tradition — a variety of plot twists and surprises to discover at every turn.

The Awakening DLC Pack includes four new multiplayer maps — Skyjacked, Rise, Splash, and Gauntlet — and Der Eisendrache, Treyarch’s brand new Zombies adventure that picks up where The Giant left off.

Awakening will inject the standard number of multiplayer maps and the zombie-themed Der Eisendrache to Call of Duty: Black Ops III on PS4 come February 2. As per Sony and Activision’s exclusivity deal, the DLC pack in question will make the jump to Xbox One and PC the following month but, crucially, not PS3 or Xbox 360.
