We’re drawing ever closer to the August 24th release of Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition and it’s getting hard to contain my excitement. Today, the Steam page listed the official PC requirements, and their surprisingly meager.

OS: Windows XP , Windows Vista, Windows 7, or newer
Processor: 2.6 GHz Dual-Core
Memory: 1 GB (XP), 2GB (Vista/7)
Hard Disk Space: 4 GB
Video Card: 512 MB RAM, ATI Radeon 4850 or higher, NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT or higher
DirectX®: 9.0c
Sound: Direct Sound Compatible

Steam has also stated that “multiplayer requires microphone headset support”, but Namco Bandi has told Eurogamer that this is incorrect. Multiplayer will be as cold and lonely as it was on consoles, and I think we’re better off for it.

If this isn’t enough to get your jimmies thoroughly rustled, a post on austrailian forum Whirlpool reportedly from Namco Bandai AU has stated the most recent preview build is running at 1080p and a fairly solid 60 FPS. This is fantastic news if it’s true. Now I just need to find a way to distract myself for 2 months, one week and 3 hours.
