Dead Rising 2: Off The Record Will Cost $40 On North American Shores

When Dead Rising 2 was announced, many fans of the first game were disappointed by the news that its camera-wielding protagonist would not be making an appearance. Instead, Chuck Greene took the reigns and did a pretty good job pulling off the zombie-slaying in style.

Capcom tried to please those fans by releasing a downloadable episode for the game entitled Case West, where our grumpy journalist takes a trip to Fortune City to help out. It was well-received, but the company found an opportunity to push this even further, with Dead Rising: Off The Record. A game that will put Frank West in the Las Vegas inspired city during the outbreak, though he’ll be a bit more out of shape than we remember.

Though it’s essentially just a take off of the Dead Rising 2 game, there’s still apparently going to be a lot of new content added. Capcom is hoping that this news, plus the reveal of its forty-dollar budget price tag, will help it find a home in the video game collections of Frank West enthusiasts.

“There’s a ton of added value here,” executive producer Jason Leigh told Eurogamer. “We have the new environment, weapons, combo weapons, new clothing, food items, vehicles, new bosses and the new story. It’s a much bigger game than Dead Rising 2 was.”

Dead Rising: Off The Record is slated to hit store shelves in quarter 4 of 2011.
