Acting as a Warner Bros. greatest hits album in many ways, the fresh faces include Doc Brown himself – who Lloyd stumbles upon in the above video – Batman, The Lord of the Rings and characters from last year’s rather excellent The LEGO Movie. As the clip demonstrates, Dimensions will follow in the footsteps of Skylanders and Disney Infinity by selling starter packs and a Toy Pad, enabling players to bring their bite-sized heroes to life seamlessly in the game.

In tandem with today’s new trailer, the publisher detailed some of the features fans can expect in a few months’ time, including the amount of characters that can be brought to life at any given time.

Players can bring up to seven characters, vehicles and weapons into the LEGO Dimensions game all at once by placing them on the LEGO Toy Pad to create extreme gameplay cross-overs, such as LEGO Superman piloting the LEGO DeLorean Time Machine through Hill Valley or LEGO Doc Brown fighting alongside LEGO Bane in New Ninjago City.

LEGO Dimensions is gearing up for a release across Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and Wii U on September 27. In the meantime, be sure to check out the new-fangled starter packs using the gallery below, which include Back to the Future alumni and some of Gotham’s finest villains.
