Ibuki Confirmed As Street Fighter V’s Third DLC Character

Street Fighter V's rather lacklustre amount of day one content no doubt left a bit of a sour taste in many a fan's mouth, but with each passing month, Capcom is doing their best to rectify past mistakes. New stages, characters and game modes are just some of the new features added since the game launched back in March and that trend continues with the announcement of returning character Ibuki.

Making her third appearance in the series after her début in Street Fighter III: New Generations and then Street Fighter IV, Ibuki returns for Street Fighter V sporting a new look and a bag full of ninja tricks.

Besides her trademark kunai and energy-based moves, the petite fighter now has the ability to throw bombs on the floor with varying detonation timers depending on button input that – if they successfully hit – can keep her enemies off the floor for massive juggle combos and mix-ups.

Capcom describes her V-Trigger as such:

V-TRIGGER: Isshaku Horokudama

Ibuki digs into her bag of ninja tools and throws a bomb at the opponent. Depending on which direction is held upon activation, the bomb can either go off quickly, after a slight delay or after a longer delay. Ibuki is extremely crafty and impatient, however, so there might be other ways to trigger the explosion.

The blog post stops short of announcing a release date for Ibuki, but judging by her reveal trailer (above), the character looks more or less finished. Capcom may be holding off on releasing her though until Street Fighter V‘s Zenny currency system is finally fixed or, likewise, to coincide with the release of the beat ’em up’s Cinematic Story Mode, which is due to release in June. We’ll keep you posted when we hear more.
