The latest gameplay trailer for Injustice 2 has dropped, and boy is this one a doozy. Not content with shining the spotlight on just one combatant but four, NetherRealm has pulled back the curtain on the more villainous side of its upcoming beat ’em up, revealing gameplay for the likes of Captain Cold, Gorilla Grodd and more members of Batman’s Rogue’s Gallery than you can shake a stick at.

Showcasing the sorts of primal brutality you’d expect from the character, Grodd’s physical bulk enables him to enact all sorts of pain on his opponents, as he’s able to swing them around like a ragdoll. Likewise, Captain Cold stays true to his name by running literal circles around the Man of Steel with ice-based abilities, which culminates in NetherRealm’s always-angry portrayal of Superman being entombed under thick layers of snow.

As for the aforementioned enemies of the Dark Knight, both Scarecrow and Bane receive screen time in the trailer, each of which has been given some rather interesting visual designs. Bane, for example, while still quite clearly pumped to the max with the Venom toxin, isn’t as outlandishly huge as Rocksteady’s rendition of the character in its Arkham series. NetherRealm’s portrayal of Scarecrow, on the other hand, is incredible and as horrifying as ever.

Do yourselves a favor and check out all four of them in action in the trailer above, which you’ll then want to re-watch several times more.

Injustice 2 is out May 16 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, but while you wait, let us know in the comments below which of today’s characters you most like the look of.
