Metro: Last Light Gameplay Demo Is Heavy On Atmosphere

Metro: Last Light may have been delayed until next year, but that doesn't mean that it's going to allow us a reprieve from its harrowing atmosphere until then. 4A Games has just released 13 minutes of footage from the highly-anticipated sequel to the outstanding yet somewhat overlooked Metro 2033, and it is as terrifying as it is beautiful.

Metro: Last Light may have been delayed until next year, but that doesn’t mean that it’s going to allow us a reprieve from its harrowing atmosphere until then. 4A Games has just released 12 minutes of footage from the highly-anticipated sequel to the outstanding yet somewhat overlooked Metro 2033, and it is as terrifying as it is beautiful.

Apparently showing the same sequence that was playable during E3 in THQ‘s private meeting rooms, this gameplay proves that nothing has been lost in terms of tension from the first game. The demo once again follows Artyom as he struggles to survive in the post-apocalyptic remains of Russia.

Few games achieve the atmosphere that Metro: Last Light has managed to portray in this video alone. The genuine claustrophobia of the gas masks has returned, the intense atmosphere has, if anything, been further amplified and the guns actually seem satisfying to shoot. It may be a while before we can play this game, but I have already started saving up my bullets (which serve as money in the game) to buy it.
