Nintendo Is Streaming A “Live @ The Treehouse” Event On September 12th Featuring Super Smash Bros. Footage

It seems that with every day that passes Nintendo bypasses the middleman of online publications more and more, instead opting to reach out to fans and customers directly. As a fan myself I certainly can't complain, and when I hear about an 8-hour gameplay streaming event that will showcase footage from both Super Smash Bros. for 3DS and brand new titles from Nintendo, I get that involuntary warm fuzy feeling. Don't act like you don't know what I mean.

It seems that with every passing day Nintendo bypasses the middleman of online publications more and more, instead reaching out to fans and customers directly. As a fan myself I certainly can’t complain, and when I hear about an 8-hour gameplay streaming event that will showcase footage from both Super Smash Bros. and brand new titles from Nintendo, I get that involuntary warm fuzy feeling. Don’t act like you don’t know what I mean.

The event is scheduled for September 12th, and was revealed via Nintendo’s official Twitter account. You can check out the statement below.

On Setptember 12th, we’ll be streaming 8 hours of gameplay via Twitch, including a look at the final version of Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS. But first, we’ll be covering some upcoming games for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS.

I’ve been thinking long and hard about the sort of new information this event may contain, and I can’t help but feel titles like Zelda U and Splatoon will see substantial screen-time. Think about it; Bayonetta 2 and Hyrule Warriors already had Nintendo directs of their own recently. New info seems inevitable.

Unless Nintendo intends to reveal entirely new games (which, to be fair, is possible), the focus is likely to land on hotly anticipated titles slated for release in 2015. If they do opt for new-title talk, I suspect said titles will be of the 3DS variety. We’ll have to wait and see to know for sure, though.

Either way, we do know that hours of Super Smash Bros. gameplay will be included in the stream, and that’s worth watching regardless of what else Nintendo decides to toss into the mix. You can tune in via Nintendo’s Twitch channel here, or start chatting with fellow fans via the channel’s chatroom right now. There are about four people in there having a grand old time.
