Phil Spencer has provided an update on the Crackdown reboot, with the Xbox Boss revealing that the Xbox One exclusive is “making great progress.” Whether or not the title will be at E3, though, is another question entirely.

Responding to a fan via Twitter, Spencer remained mum about whether or not the third entry into the blockbuster series would raise its head during Microsoft’s showcase on June 15.

Aside from last year’s CGI trailer, there’s little-to-no information about Crackdown out in the ether, not whether it will launch for Xbox One. Still, fans of the open-world series can take solace in the fact that Dave Jones returns to oversee and developer the game following his work on the originals.

Microsoft’s holiday slate is admittedly crowded given the release of Halo 5: Guardians and Rise of the Tomb Raider, making it logical for the publisher to hold Crackdown for a release at some point in 2016 – as a summer blockbuster, perhaps. That doesn’t necessarily rule out an E3 appearance, though, and we’re hoping Microsoft and Realtime Worlds are ready to show off some gameplay on this occasion.

Microsoft’s E3 presser kicks off at precisely at 9:30 PT/12:30 ET, and we’ll have all the coverage for you right here, with or without Crackdown.
