We’re still roughly six months (and change) away from the release of Pokémon Sword and Shield but already, Grookey, Scorbunny and Sobble have become the stars of the show.

In case you’ve been living under a rock, far from the UK-inspired region of Galar, you’ll surely be familiar with Grookey (Grass), Scorbunny (Fire) and Sobble (Water). After all, they’re about to be your new favorite companions, as they’re officially the three starter Pokémon that will be featured in Sword and Shield.

But beyond just them, Game Freak will introduce fans to a number of other exciting new additions and changes to the wonderful world of Pokémon, and thanks to GameSpot, we’ve now got a pretty good idea of which of those beloved critters we’ll be encountering as we make our way through Sword and Shield.

Seen in the gallery below are all of the confirmed Pokémon who we know from the game’s recent trailer will be showing up. Of course, there’ll no doubt be many more aside from just the ones you see here, but at the moment, these are the characters that we can confirm.

As you’ll notice, a lot of these Pokémon hail from recent titles like Sun and Moon, while a few are classics that have been around for a while. Together, though, they represent almost every generation and we can’t wait to see who else Game Freak’s included.

Set in the lush 3D world of Galar, Pokémon Sword and Shield will launch for the Nintendo Switch later this year, when it’ll join Super Mario Maker 2, Yoshi’s Crafted World, Astral Chain, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3, Animal Crossing, Luigi’s Mansion 3, Fire Emblem: Three Houses on The Big N’s massive 2019 schedule. And if you’re already sold, you’ll be glad to know that Nintendo is already taking pre-orders.
