A new advert posted on Sony’s official Facebook page (via VG247) has revealed that both Resident Evil 7‘s VR counterpart and Batman: Arkham VR are timed – rather than permanent – exclusives for the company’s upcoming PlayStation VR device, meaning that you no longer need to rush out and buy a PlayStation 4 to experience either.
Of course, if you want to be among the first to experience either virtual reality title, you’re likely to be unaffected by the news, but for those that identify primarily as PC gamers, it’s pleasing to know that both could potentially see a release on the Oculus Rift or HTC Vive in the future, especially the latter, which is currently the most powerful (and expensive) iteration of the technology currently available.
Resident Evil 7 will remain exclusive to PlayStation VR for an entire year, while Batman: Arkham VR’s contract expires much earlier – March 2017 – so you could be seeing the latter pop up on other platforms relatively soon.
PlayStation VR launches October 13 and, as well as being backed up by several launch titles, will come packed with a demo disc loaded with eight trial games for you to try before you buy, so to speak.
