Street Fighter X Tekken Special Edition Info; Release Date Revealed

The much-anticipated bouts between the Street Fighter roster and its rival Tekken foes, will begin on March 6, 2012. That is the day when fighting game fanatics can purchase the North American version of Street Fighter X Tekken for the Xbox 360 and PS3. It will be available three days later in Europe, releasing on March 9, 2012.

We’re still not sure of the release date for the PlayStation Vita but, you can rest assured that Street Fighter X Tekken will also be releasing for Sony‘s touch-enabled device.

Earlier today at New York Comic-Con, Capcom unveiled the contents of the North American Street Fighter X Tekken Special Edition set, as well as its gem system. Players can equip their fighters with different gems, which modify their statistics and abilities. Specific North American and European retailers will be offering gem packs as pre-order bonuses.

A PC version of the game was also announced today.

The Special Edition set will include:

Street Fighter X Tekken game disc
Build-it-yourself arcade cabinet  bank (approximately 5″H)
Exclusive prequel comic book by UDON
36 Gems: Includes all pre-order packs, plus an exclusive pack
Pre-Order Bonus: Nine exclusive gems available only to those who pre-order the Special Edition
Total of 45 gems when you pre-order

Those who are still engaged in fast and fluid Super Street Fighter 4: Arcade Edition duels will be happy to know that it will also be receiving an update. Referred to as Version 2012, the free update will launch on December 13.
