Is Guardians of the Galaxy on the verge of joining Telltale’s burgeoning roster of episodic series? It certainly seems so.
A report unearthed by CBM suggests that the decorated studio is putting together the pieces for Guardians of the Galaxy: The Video Game (AKA Blue Harvest), which looks set to be Telltale’s mysterious Marvel project that’s being aligned for release in 2017.
Also listed on the document, one circulated by voice actor union SAG-AFTRA, is The Walking Dead Season 3, which we already know is due to premiere later this month. You’ll also find the as-yet-untitled single-player DLC for Uncharted 4 featured on the .PDF, though it’s impossible to glean any more information from the listing other than the fact that Naughty Dog is actively ramping up production on the hotly-anticipated add-on.
Getting back to Guardians of the Galaxy, it should be noted that SAG-AFTRA is in the midst of an ongoing strike, hence the lack of tangible information for Telltale’s purported new project. With Vol. 2 on course to hit theaters on May 5, one would assume that the developer currently has all hands at the pump to get its new licensed series up and running prior to the film’s release, potentially filling out the gap between Guardians of the Galaxy and James Gunn’s spacefaring sequel. It’s a strategy that Telltale has adopted for numerous series in the past, and it would certainly appeal to long-time Guardians fans who want to spend more time with Star-Lord and Co. before Vol. 2.
Per CBM:
Telltale is yet to respond to the alleged leak, but we’ll keep you posted as this one develops. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, meanwhile, is earmarked for May 5, 2017.
