Taking place during the events of the original Resident Evil, Resident Evil Zero focuses on the desperate bond formed between detective Rebecca Chambers and convict Billy Chambers in the wake of the zombie outbreak. The title originally debuted on the Nintendo Gamecube back in 2002, and features the unique mechanic of allowing players to “zap” between the two protagonists mid-game. Well, it was unique back in 2002 anyway.

As for the contents of the trailer itself, well, it’s nothing you haven’t seen before. I don’t mean that in a bad way, mind you, but it’s just a better looking version of the well-regarded survival horror title. It does look pretty good for a re-release of a 13 year old game, though, so kudos to Capcom on that.

Despite the fact that I owned a Gamecube and was a huge fan of the legendary franchise, I somehow never experienced Resident Evil Zero. I’m definitely looking forward to seeing more footage of it next week, as Capcom will be showing the title off during E3. One of the things I’ll be watching for is seeing if the studio will be doing any additional work on the release, besides just upgrading the graphics.

Resident Evil Zero HD is scheduled to launch in early 2016 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Windows PC.
