If French developer Dontnod Entertainment changed tact between the release of Remember Me and episodic adventure series Life is Strange, the studio is breaking off on a whole new direction once more. This time, it’s into the realm of the supernatural with upcoming horror game, Vampyr.

Currently pegged for 2017 across current-gen systems and PC, Dontnod’s RPG is said to bear similarities to Life is Strange in that the player will experience a dynamic plot, though it’s unclear if moment-to-moment decisions will directly affect the outcome.

Rooted in the Britain of the 20th century, with Spanish flu and poverty rife, Vampyr is oozing with dramatic potential, and Dontnod shared some fleeting gameplay details to coincide with those haunting new images glimpsed above.

“Absolutely all characters in the game are potential victims of your vampiric lust. Carefully study the habits of your next victim, his or her relationships with other characters, and set up your strategy to feed, unnoticed: seduce them, change their daily habits, or make sure they end up alone in a dark street.”

Dontnod has slated Vampyr for a release across PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC at some point in 2017.
