Listen up, trained zombie-killers, whose favourite weapons are of the mechanical kind.

Today, Square Enix and doublesix confirmed their plans to release All Zombies Must Die! sometime this calendar month. A representative from the developer told Joystiq that the XBLA and PSN versions of the game will launch simultaneously, with a PC release occurring “a bit later.” That statement is an alteration of what was previously mentioned in July, when it was stated that the 360 version would be the late release.

For the uninitiated who haven’t been following the game, All Zombies Must Die! is a twin-stick shooter, which has been pegged as a spiritual successor to Burn Zombies Burn! It takes place in your average, cartoon-rendered American town, where a zombie outbreak is threatening its everyday citizens. Of course, the entire thing is a fantasy world, made up by the game’s main hero, Jack. Regardless of circumstance, players must take up colourful and creative arms (guns, katanas, baseball bats, ray-emitting devices) and destroy the flesh eaters in visceral fashion.

Four-player local co-op is available, with three of Jack’s friends joining the carnage. Along the way, each one will level-up in RPG fashion, as they use comedic moves to abolish the evil threat. Sounds like a good game to play with a group of friends, if you ask me.

Square Enix, Inc., the publisher of SQUARE ENIX® interactive entertainment products in the Americas, today announced it has entered into a publishing deal with doublesix for the Xbox LIVE Arcade version of All Zombies Must Die!™. The game is due for release in later this month.

The spiritual successor to doublesix’s Burn Zombie Burn, All Zombies Must Die! sees the main character Jack living out his fantasies as a gamer in a town overrun by zombies. Packed with playful humor, All Zombies Must Die! fuses many gameplay elements to create a frenetic action-packed RPG shooter offering the player and up to three friends, a non-stop Zombie-killing mayhem. The game’s RPG elements allow the player to level up characters, complete comical side quests and collect items to craft new weapons.

“We’re very excited to partner with doublesix on the XBLA launch of All Zombies Must Die!” said Mona Hamilton, vice president of marketing of Square Enix, Inc. “This fun and humorous zombie RPG has received significant interest from media and consumers, and is an excellent addition to Square Enix’s diverse catalog of games.”

James Brooksby, Founder, doublesix adds, “The studio has been working very hard on All Zombies Must Die! for some time; it is our most ambitious project to date and we are thrilled it will be in the hands of the public very soon. We are delighted to be publishing the XBLA version with Square Enix and look forward to working with them on the game’s launch.”
