7) Wolverine Meets Spider-Man – Spider-Man
Another superhero meet-and-greet that was never filmed, this one is even more tantalizing as it could have been the first comic book movie crossover – a decade before The Avengers.
Back when Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man was being made, the rivalry between the different studios with superhero franchises had yet to develop, so Sony were happy to have Fox’s X-Men star Hugh Jackman turn up to meet Spidey in a fan-pleasing cameo.
Reflecting on the notion in 2013, Jackman explained the reason why the scene never materialized:
“The problem was, we couldn’t find the suit. The suit was stuck in some thing. And so when they were in New York when I was there, we couldn’t get it together.”
The idea that such a cool-sounding scene was nixed by something as trivial as a mislaid costume is heartbreaking. Jackman’s Wolverine only wears a leather jumpsuit – couldn’t they quickly whip up another one?
