“Oh, We’re Using Our Made-Up Names?”
Finally, as with the previous trailer ending on a lighter note when Thor encountered the Guardians, this second promo for Infinity War gives us a hilarious exchange between some more characters meeting for the first time. Namely, Spidey and Strange.
The ever-perky Peter Parker introduces himself to the Master of the Mystic Arts, who shakes his hand and calls himself “Doctor Strange.” Peter mistakenly believes this is his “made-up” superhero codename and switches back to calling himself Spider-Man. Stephen Strange looks exasperated. He’s probably bored of people mocking his name, after Kaecilius did something similar in his 2016 solo movie.
Of course, this is just a taste of the Spider-Man/Doctor Strange dynamic that will be explored in the film. We’ve been promised that Holland and Cumberbatch have “great chemistry,” so expect lots more fun to come from these two in Avengers: Infinity War.
