10 Ways To Make Spider-Man: Homecoming 2 Better Than The First

This summer, after years of fighting, Marvel Studios finally brought Spider-Man home. Having managed to wrestle temporary control of one of their greatest heroes back from Sony, they produced Spider-Man: Homecoming to build on the character's introduction in 2016's Captain America: Civil War. While Kevin Feige was quick to specify that Zendaya’s ‘MJ’ is absolutely not an adaptation of Mary Jane Watson, it’s been confirmed that the character has similarities in order to remind viewers of the famous dynamic between Parker and Watson. Essentially, this represents the studio writing themselves a blank cheque on the character as it means they can reflect as much of the real MJ as they like but also do totally new and unexpected things with her if they see fit.

Following the end of Spider-Man: Homecoming, fans are likely to be expecting some classic similarities to appear in the sequel. One thing that should be avoided, however, is bringing Zendaya’s MJ into a heroic role too early on. Reports that the Spider-Gwen character had reportedly been touted for some place in Marc Webb’s fledgling movie series drew immediate cautions about more overcrowding. The same could easily befall this series if the studio rushes things.

This MJ character could be pushed into any number of the heroic female roles that have accompanied Parker across various Spider-Man comics, but trying to cram this in too early on would be a big mistake.
