8) Why Would Anyone Think Superman Caused The Courtroom Explosion?
This is another thing that happens in the film simply because it needs to happen, which the writers made happen without first finding a good reason to justify it happening.
Batman V Superman needs to find another reason after the Nairomi incident for society to turn against Superman, so at the midway point Scoot McNairy’s angry anti-Superman campaigner blows up a courtroom with Kal El in it, killing civilians in the process.
Metropolis in its shock wonders why Superman was the only survivor (coincidence?? No – he can survive literally anything), and The Daily Planet runs with the idea that even if Superman didn’t cause the explosion itself, he may have been an accomplice.
But why would Superman take a break from helping people to blow up a room full of them, and at his own hearing no less? Why would he be the culprit and not, say, the guy that was also in the room who had a well-publicized hatred of Superman?
